Hawai'i Launches Statewide Evaluation of All ACO Models—Every Clinician Invited

January 21, 2026

Announced by Dr. Kelley Withy (JABSOM AHEC) and Dr. Jack Lewin (SHPDA)

For the first time, Hawai'i's physicians and APRNs will have side-by-side, transparent comparisons of every Accountable Care Organization and advanced payment model—before making the most important practice decision of 2026.

The evaluation will examine which models can eliminate prior authorizations, provide predictable revenue, restore clinical control, and support the care teams and infrastructure clinicians actually need—not what insurers want.

Why your participation matters: The strength of the evaluation depends on the size of the provider pool. The more clinicians who participate, the more stable and accurate the actuarial modeling becomes—giving everyone better data to make informed decisions. Your participation strengthens the analysis for yourself and your colleagues across all islands.

This fall, Hawai'i's clinicians will choose which path forward. For the first time, that choice will be informed by transparent, clinician-led analysis—not payer talking points. want.
